Alliances Unplugged: Bridging EHEA and ERA through Doctoral Education
Doctoral education is the “missing link” in European University Alliances. While these partnerships are born from the EHEA (Teaching), there is a strong tendency to expand activities toward the ERA (Research).
Join us for an open exchange on how doctoral education acts as the “glue” binding these two worlds together. No polished brochures—just a moderated peer-to-peer discussion on the wins, growing pains, and practical workarounds of international collaboration.
The Pre-Conference Peer-Exchange Session:
Tuesday, May 5th | 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
If you are navigating the complexities of a European University Alliance, you know the inherent tension: while our funding often stems from the Erasmus+ (EHEA) teaching mandate, our strategic ambitions are firmly rooted in the European Research Area (ERA).
Doctoral education has become the vital bridge between these two worlds. Alliances are increasingly using doctoral candidates as the “engine” to drive joint research collaborations, yet the administrative and legal frameworks often lag behind this vision.
Join us for “Alliances Unplugged”—a session designed to move beyond the polished narratives of official brochures. This is a candid, peer-to-peer space to discuss:
-
The Strategic Bridge: How can we effectively use doctoral education to push joint research within an Erasmus+ framework?
-
The Reality Check: What are the genuine “dos and don’ts” of international collaboration in doctoral education?
-
Growing Pains & Solutions: Honest discussions on initiatives that faltered in practice and the practical workarounds we’ve found for administrative barriers.
No Presentations. No “Official” Narratives. Just Dialogue.
This is an open sharing session under light moderation. We are prioritizing direct dialogue over formal slides to help one another build more integrated and effective doctoral frameworks across our respective alliances.
Why attend?
To share your “wins,” troubleshoot your “pains,” and leave with a network of peers who are facing the exact same structural challenges.
