Changing Academic Careers LECTURE SERIES
The DZHW Research Cluster invites you to join our “Changing Academic Careers” lecture series every Monday in June 2021. In four subsequent sessions, the DZHW Research Cluster hosts online presentations by experts in the field of academic careers. Driven by expansion and reforms in the German higher education and science system, academic careers have become increasingly diverse over the last two decades. However, little is known empirically about the consequences of changed conditions for career paths and individuals’ occupational success. From a perspective of international competitiveness, knowledge about the determinants of staying in or leaving academia and switching between occupational sectors is highly relevant. Hence, which factors motivate individuals to leave the academic sector? What makes PhD candidates and PhDs successful within academia? Who becomes a tenured professor? These and related questions are the focus of the lecture series.
Presentations will be held in English, participation is possible with no prior registration. If you are interested in discussing the latest empirical work, follow this WebEx-link or join via the Meeting-ID: 181 002 1618 and the password: msGzyUPi886.
