Becoming an Affective Researcher: Reflections from Doctoral Research – IDERN

This event will explore how embracing ‘affect’ can enrich both the content and structure of doctoral research. Through this event we suggest that embracing personal circumstances and reflecting on affective responses can aid in understanding oneself as a more rounded, ‘authentic’ researcher. It comes out of a new, edited volume The Affective Researcher, and we will have two of the authors along to speak about their chapters.

This event will have:

~ An introduction from Andrew Gibson (Aarhus University), editor of the new book The Affective Researcher (Emerald Publishing)

~ A presentation from Quivine Ndomo (University of Jyväskylä) on the chapter, ‘A science-society-me look at the doctoral project: A biographical lens on research content’

~ A presentation from Samantha Marangell (University of Melbourne) on the chapter ‘Affective influences within one international PhD experience’

~ We will conclude with your questions and a discussion, facilitated by Maree Martinussen (University of Melbourne)

Registration: Upon registration, you will be emailed a link to the event.

The event is finished.
